Titles are so hard to come up with...

I love knowing that I'll never ever run out of things to read. Yay!

Currently reading

Catherynne M. Valente
The Golem and the Jinni
Helene Wecker

Nation

Nation - Terry Pratchett Wonderful! My favorite quote: ...his gun will run out of bang before my knife runs out of sharp.""

Matched

Matched - Ally Condie I read it on a recommendation from a friend, and she was right - it's great! I found Cassia's transformation throughout the book well-paced and convincing, and she's so honest... Her world, however, is realistic enough to be a little terrifying. I look forward to the next in the series!
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats - Jan-Philipp Sendker Very moving! I find myself standing around with my eyes closed, trying to see what I can hear...

The Pact: A Love Story

The Pact: A Love Story - Jodi Picoult Wonderful! It had me worrying about all the characters when I wasn't reading...

Scarlet

Scarlet - A.C. Gaughen Action-packed and exciting! I can see why this book was nominated for the Teens' Top Ten. Scarlet is quite the role model (despite her totally unhealthy guilt complex), and Rob is a dreamy hero. This book makes me wish I could kick butt.
The Last Unicorn - Peter S. Beagle, Peter Gillis, Renae DeLiz, Ray Dillon Beautifully done! I've always loved the story, and now I have a new incarnation of it to love. :o) Gorgeous!
Vote for Me! - Ben Clanton Cute and clever, especially fun to read during this election season. The bit about the mud slinging made me laugh out loud!

The Conference of the Birds

The Conference of the Birds - Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Alexis York Lumbard, Demi A simple, beautiful retelling of an ancient story. The illustrations are lovely as well, though this comes as no surprise when Demi is the illustrator.

City of Ashes: Mortal Instruments, Book 2

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare Even better than the first book in the series! These things are like book crack, I just couldn't stop reading.
Full Dark, No Stars - Super creepy and suspenseful. I usually don't like these sort of things, but it was compulsively readable (or, in my case, listenable).

Wonder

Wonder - R.J. Palacio, Nick Podehl, Kate Rudd, Diana Steele Sweet and honest, and it even made me cry a little (happy tears). :o) Even better than the reviews made it out to be!

The Last Werewolf

The Last Werewolf - Glen Duncan Darker and much more exciting than I expected. Might be the first werewolf novel I've read that's clearly intended for an adult audience.

Advent

Advent: A Novel - James Treadwell What a great beginning - I could hardly bear to put it down once it really got going. I love this take on magic, and that Gav's world is easily recognizable as our own, at least in the beginning... Highly recommended!

The Leftovers

The Leftovers - Tom Perrotta Thought-provoking, clever, and often funny. I'm still not sure how I would react if something like this happened...

Awakened: Number 8 in series (House of Night)

Awakened - P.C. Cast, Kristin Cast, Caitlin Davies Great fun, as always.
Shadow of Night - Wonderful! Diana is feisty and clever, Matthew protective and wily, and their world ever more magical and complex - I loved it, and can't wait for more!
